👋 Rolodex for Parish Life Worship page?
Hi Ryan,
Veronica suggested I reach out to you for this question:
Parish Life has a lot of “FAQs” and guidelines which prompted the accordion question. Instead of the accordion feature, I was thinking it would be useful to have a Rolodex function (similar to the one on the home page) dedicated to these, which would reside on the Parish Life Worship page. Is that doable?

Sorry for the delay in following up with this. The short answer is yes, it can be done.
That said, we would need to establish a few specifics about how these would be displayed.
Would this be identical to the Home page?
If not, how would these be display differently?
Main content or side bar?
There's likely a half-hour to an hour of development to coordinate the ins and outs.
I spoke with David Baloga, who has all of the content for the rolodex.
The rolodex can look identical to the one on the home page.
It will reside in the main content area of the page Home-->Worship-->Liturgical Guidelines
There will be no sidebar on the Liturgical Guidelines page, just some introductory text to explain the rolodex and the rolodex itself.
A few questions for you:
1. How many characters of text can fit on a single line of the rolodex before it wraps to the next line?
2. David has all of the content (for the "landing" links on the rolodex) in one long Word document. Would it be better, in your opinion, to turn the Word document into one, long, scrolling HTML page, with anchors? Then each rolodex link would link to an anchor? OR would it be better to turn the Word document into several dozen pages on the site, and each rolodex link to would point to a separate page? Please note, if we do it this second way, some of the pages will literally only have one line of text, while other pages would have several paragraphs.
3. If we go with the first option (one big, long, page), and put the topics in alphabetical order, could we add an A-Z bar, similar to the one found on the parish locator page?
Thank you,
Connie
-Keep in mind the current style is split 50/50 (main title/topic title), and it doesn't have to be. It could easily be 30/70 for example, or simply centered at 100% with no label.
2) This type of content and mechanics would be best as one page with anchors. Separate pages could be done, but then it becomes a much bigger challenge to automate (and possibly not be able to automate).
3) Yes, we could add the alpha navigation
I've set it up so that the anchors and rolodex functional are generated automatically based on the data provided. Order does not matter. I've taken a snippet here of the Topic & Information fields, which are all that need to be filled out.
I did not include the alpha navigation at this juncture, only because I wanted you to see this first, and then determine if that is indeed a feature you want to add to this particular page.

Ryan and Veronica,
Here is the file to be used for the Rolodex on the Worship --> Liturgical Guidelines page. Please let David know if it needs any additional editing.
Thank you!
Connie
I've copied the material over to the Liturgical Guidelines page.
