Parish Profile Template
Good afternoon Connie. Earlier this week Ryan and I were discussing the Excel file that you sent containing all of the diocese's parishes along with mass times. There is a bit of an issue with that file. In the original template that Veronica had sent over she referenced that the day and time for each mass & confession time would need to be listed separately.
"NOTE: Mass and Confession times will need to be put in separately, as they are individually entered as Day, time, & repeat"
This was so that we would be able to import the contents of the file into the database. Unfortunately the document that was sent back to us has everything entered as a block.
ie: Saturday, 3:30 - 4:15 PM; before daily mass 6:45 - 7:10 AM; 11:30 AM - 11:55 AM
Unfortunately the way that the information is formatted right now means that we cannot import the contents of the file into the database. It is going to take several hours (I don't know exactly how long, rough guess of somewhere between 5-12 hours.) to go through the original file and format it in a way that we can import into the database. Is there someone at the diocese who you can task with formatting the information so that we can import it? If we do it, it's going to add several hours to the project cost.
I've attached 2 files:
Mass Times Example.xls which perhaps better explains the format.
TEMPLATE Website Parish Profile - Worship Sites.xls which shows an example with the first parish formatted in the way we would need.

Great. If you have any other questions about the samples feel free to email or call me.
1) For some parishes there is also a Holy Day Mass Schedule – can this remain in a single field as at present, or does it have to be another whole set of fields and lines?
2) On the parish info site, there is also a category called “Office Hours” which are quite varied per parish. Does this have to be pulled out also into a separate field for each day of the week?
Nancy is not in Basecamp, but if it is helpful to you to speak to her directly, her email is nancy-valtos@dioceseofscranton.org<mailto:nancy-valtos@dioceseofscranton.org>.

1) Yes those would need to be pulled out and individually labeled too. Something like below. Here are examples for two churches. One with a day & time and another with just the note. One additional piece, Holy Days weren't in the original mockup so we'd need to figure out where they're being displayed on the page and what, if any, searching will be done with them. For now though if you break them apart like below we can at least get them imported into the database and then circle back to the functionality and design.
Service Day Time End Time Language Note

Nancy asked me to submit what she has done so far, a work in progress, to see if it meets your needs. She did leave the original "blocks" in there, as a reference point to herself as she works her way down through the list.
Please let us know how this works for you.
Is it okay for her to leave those in there, and you can delete those columns? or do you need us to do that before we submit the final version?
Ryan/Kyle,
Can one of you look at what Nancy has so far.
Connie
The work in progress looks great thus far. There were two things I would like to point out moving forward.
1) Holy Days will not have a day associated with them. For that reason, "Vigil" does not qualify as a "day", and would be more appropriately used as a comment.
Example, for record line 150 has Holy Day, Vigil, 5:00 pm, [no comment]
We would update this to be Holy Day, [no day], 5:00 pm, Vigil
2) Schedules with unique frequencies also need to be attributed in comments. Basically, the "Day" column is strictly a day of the week only.
Example, for record line 164 has Reconciliation, First Saturday, 12:00 pm, 1:00pm, [no comment]
This should be Reconciliation, Saturday, 12:00pm, 1:00pm, First Saturday
You could also say "First Saturday Only", or "First Saturday of the Month", whatever you would like to specify which "day" applies.
Hi Ryan,
I am uploading what I hope to be the final versions of the Parish and Worship site worksheets. Please let me know if they are in usable format for your needs. Thank you! Connie

Just wanted to let you know that Mass times have been imported. Parish pages have been updated to reflect those times.
