CTK (Redesign) - Atlanta, GA

Website Updates and Migration for Cathedral of Christ the King (Atlanta, GA)

2. Upcoming events – yes, remove from inner pages

4. I’d prefer to see analytics in the WordPress dashboard.

5. Do you have an example of the enviragallery on someone’s site? We want
something so that ctkyouth can continue to have their ads running like they
do on their homepage right now (www.ctkyouth.com) and so that we could have
a gallery running on our construction updates page (
www.cathedralctk.com/capitalcampaign). Something like the gallery slider on
this site: https://www.purificationheritagecenter.org/copy-of-news or
sliders on this site: http://www.houserwalker.com/academic-c1jk4
<http://www.houserwalker.com/academic-c1jk4%20%0d6>

6 <http://www.houserwalker.com/academic-c1jk4%20%0d6>. yes, I like that –
but then change the cover photo so that you know you’ve entered a different
set of menus. But I like having the box at the top…I think that would only
be necessary to add on the sub pages (adults, youth, 20/30s) to get them
back to the Cathedral page.

No worries!

1. Yes, you'll be able to change the links from the dashboard in the
future. It is live though, so I just didn't want to have test items showing
up.
2. Ok! The previous "Upcoming Events" were displaying on inner page
sidebars as well, would you also like those removed?
3. I will explore options for Facebook event-specific feed and let you
know what we find.
4. Either option is fine, it really just depends whether you'd like to
view analytics in your Google dashboard, or a simplified version right
within WordPress.
5. I'm just trying to get a feel for how this would look. Do you have
a site in mind you'd like to copy the feel of? The header was originally
designed for a static background more than a focal point of the page that
would be interacted with. For separate galleries as part of the page
content, we often use Envira Gallery <https://enviragallery.com/>, which
I can install as well.
6. That makes sense. Yes, they would still be very similar visually. The
main difference would be that each one would have their own menu system.
There could definitely be a link back to the main site within each. An
example of something similar is https://www.saparish.com/parish/ and
https://www.saparish.com/school/.
7. Ok, we can help with that! We'll just need to have whoever has access
to those domains to point them to our server once we're ready to transition.

Thanks,

Sorry for the delay:

1. Hamburger Menu: we want this flexible so that we change it out. To
start with, please have: Mass Times, Clergy & Staff, Give Online

2. News and events will replace upcoming events

3. We do not have anything yet – we would like the facebook posts
feed and if facebook comes out with an events feed that’s compatible, space
to add it would be great

4. What do you recommend for google analytics?

5. Yes, we want to be able to replace the static featured image so
that you know you’re entering their network of pages on our Cathedral site.
Everything else would appear as normal. We would like a separate feature
that can be added to any page (like the MetaSlider) so that we can have a
gallery of pictures.

6. If you recommend separate sites, then let’s do that. Would you
still have access back to all the Cathedral pages? Can you send an example
of what you’re talking about? We don’t need these pages to look as visually
different as they are right now. That’s part of why we’re bringing them
back to one site. We want visitors to know these ministries are a part of
the Cathedral.

7. Would be nice if their existing domains can redirect back to the
Cathedral and then we’ll start using the new ones to advertise:

a. www.cathedralctk.com/2030s

b. www.cathedralctk.com/youth - plus /edge or /lifeteen for their
respective pages

c. www.cathedralctk.com/adults

Hi Jennifer,

I'm working on making these updates and have a few questions for you.

1. For the new navigation menu next to the "hamburger" menu, what
specific links would you like moved here? We want these fle*Mass Times, *
2. For the new *News and Events, *should this replace the *Upcoming
Events* current feed, or be in addition to? (above or below)
3. Also for the News and Events area, various premium plugins were
referenced for the Facebook Events feed functionality. Have you purchased
anything for this yet, or shall I research which one may work best and
recommend that? (some or all may no longer be working as Facebook has
updated their developer APIs due to privacy concerns) At the least, we can
certainly do the Facebook posts feed.
4. For Google Analytics there are a few options. If you share the
"tracking code" (an HTML/JavaScript snippet provided from Google Analytics
Dashboard) we can add that to the site, and the Google Analytics Dashboard
will begin receiving data. Alternatively, there are WordPress plugins (
https://wordpress.org/plugins/google-analytics-for-wordpress/,
https://wordpress.org/plugins/google-analytics-dashboard-for-wp/) that
can be used to view analytics data from within the WordPress Dashboard.
This still requires setting up the site in Google Analytics and
authorization. Just let me know which route you'd like to take and whether
the site has been added to your Google Analytics account.

I also have a few questions specific to the new page templates for the
external sites that are being migrated to cathedralctk.com.

1. A custom header with an image slider is referenced. Would you mind
describing what you had in mind? I'm presuming essentially replacing the
"featured image" in the example screenshot below. (i.e. slider would appear
behind grey overlay, with logo, menu, and page title overtop) Anything more
complicated I'd recommend putting in the page content below. (slides with
text, links/buttons, varying ratios, etc) There are various slider options
(as well as custom solutions), ranging from a fairly simple option like
MetaSlider <https://wordpress.org/plugins/ml-slider/> to Revolution
Slider <https://revolution.themepunch.com/>, which has many more options
with an advanced layer editor like you'd see in PhotoShop or similar
software.

1. After assessing the content and needs of each of each site, 20/30
Somethings, Adults, and Youth, we're thinking these may be best handled as
individual WordPress sites on cathedralctk.com rather than a set of
pages with their own template. This would simplify several things,
including different logos, user management, and the menu system. The main
visible difference would be that each site would have its own standalone
"Main Menu" (accessed by clicking the Menu icon on the main site right now)
rather than a menu in the sidebar, replacing "Bulletins", "Podcasts", etc
in the sidebar of the current default inner page template. How does that
sound?
2. Lastly for each of these sites, is the end goal to redirect their
domain to their new area (for example, ctk2030somethings.org to
cathedralctk.com/2030somethings), or do you plan to drop those domains
and advertise simply cathedralctk.com?

Thank you,

Here is your official approval to get started on everything! As far as the
facebook feed, from what I can find online
<https://developers.facebook.com/blog/post/2018/04/04/facebook-api-platform-product-changes/>,
they’re working on making changes in their platform that will fix the
issue. So maybe we do that item last once facebook makes their edits? It
looks like everything will take about 45 hours. Assuming someone isn’t
working for a week straight on our site, when do you estimate everything to
be complete?

Jennifer,

Hi. Attached are the final estimates and details regarding the new website
updates and external site migrations for the Cathedral website (
https://cathedralctk.com).

I will be out of the office for next several days and have included both
our content specialist, Veronica, and developer, Daniel, on this message to
keep everything rolling.

All that is needed is "official" approval via email here to begin
everything. Veronica will then be in touch.

Sincerely,

Kevin Ferguson
