St. Catherine of Siena Website Development

Hi Chris and Rich,

My name is Daniel and I'm working on building your new website, based on Sam's proofs, over the next few weeks as Veronica curates and organizes the website content. Once we've completed the initial framework, we'll share a link to the development site so you're able to see the progress as it's being built. I plan on having that ready early next week.

Once we reach the final stages of development, we'd like to schedule a time for training on the new site. Any staff who you anticipate helping with the site is welcome to join. This involves a phone call and screen sharing, generally taking 1-2 hours depending on familiarity level. During this time we'll go over the WordPress Dashboard and Editor and make sure you're ready to maintain the content!

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reply to this email or give us a call.

Thanks,

Daniel Shamburger

Hi Daniel,

Nice to meet the next member of our team! So far, everyone has been so nice to work with.

I just emailed Veronica and sent her the changes I came up with so far. I’ve sent an email to those other staff members involved, and included the same document, asking for any additional changes by the end of the month. I included your info in my message, asking if anyone will be joining me for the training session in April

If I get any additional info, or come up with any great ideas, I will send to Veronica asap.

😊 Chris

Chris and Rich,

Great to hear!

Here is the link to the development site: http://stcofsiena.diocesanweb.com/. Please feel free to look over the site at your convenience and make note of any questions or updates.

As it is a work in progress there are some items that aren't finished particularly mobile responsiveness and calendar/Facebook feeds.

I do have a few questions for you as we move forward with the project:
  1. Are you still looking to transfer management of the domain to us? If so, could you provide us with the GoDaddy login, where it looks like it is registered?
  2. Secondly, there was indication of switching your email service to G Suite through Google (would still be @yourdomain). Is that something you'd like us to get started? There are few steps to this, including verifying non-profit status so that Google's services are free.
  3. Lastly, are you planning on continuing to use CalendarWiz, or switching to a Google Calendar for displaying on the website?
Thanks! Have a great weekend and happy Easter!

Hi Daniel and Chris,
I recommend transferring the domain. I have access to do so. Are there any fees related to on going domain management other than annual renewal costs?
Rich
TO THE CLIENT Veronica Alvarado, Project Manager at Diocesan

Rich,

Domain management is something that we offer at no charge since we will be hosting the website. It's a completely free "added bonus" that helps keep things easier for you since everything website-related would be with our one company.

I also want to reassure you that when you choose to transfer the domain to Diocesan, you will still have 100% control of the domain, which can be transferred back to you at any point in time.

Once you are confident that you would like to move the domain to Diocesan, please let us know and Daniel will get in touch with you with the next step.

Thank you,

Veronica Alvarado

Hi Veronica,
Just talked to Chris re the domain and we both agree it should be managed by Diocesan with the church retaining ownership.

Hi Daniel,

It’s been fun checking out our new website! Overall, I really like it; just have to work out some changes. I just sent a list to Veronica.

Rich has answered you re the domain so that’s good.
And for now, we prefer to stay with our emails and calendar.

Re the training on WordPress, what day/time are you looking at?

Thanks,
Chris
TO THE CLIENT Daniel Shamburger
I'm glad you're liking it!

Regarding the domain name transfer, here are the instructions for transferring from GoDaddy: https://www.godaddy.com/help/transfer-domain-to-another-registrar-3560. You can complete the first steps and let me know, or share the login credentials and I can take care of it all.

Ok! Veronica mentioned you'd be sharing the CalendarWiz login info so that we can figure out the best way to share the calendar feed on the website in a way that matches the design.

Between Veronica and myself, our schedules for training are fairly flexible. Is there a particular day/time over the next few weeks that might work well for you?

Daniel
FROM THE CLIENT Chris Pelletier, Communications and IT Coordinator at Catherine of Siena
Thanks Daniel. Regarding training, as soon as I know who the other person is going to be, I will let you know our choice of day/time.

Rich, since you have the domain stuff, will you be taking care of this?

Mary, would you please send the calendar info Daniel needs to him?

Talk with you soon,
Chris

Rich, thanks for the domain info. I've initiation the domain transfer on our end.

Thanks for sharing the CalendarWiz credentials, Mary, we're working on getting this integrated into the website.

Chris, regarding setting a training day/time, a few things have come up on our calendar. If possible, could we avoid Wednesday and Thursday, the 11th and 12th? Tuesday, Friday, or sometime the following week should be fine.

Thanks, I hope you all have a great weekend!

How about next Tuesday, April 17 for training day? Maybe 9:00am.
TO THE CLIENT Veronica Alvarado, Project Manager at Diocesan
That works!

What is a good number for us to call for the training? Also how many people do you plan on being in the training?

Veronica
FROM THE CLIENT Chris Pelletier, Communications and IT Coordinator at Catherine of Siena
I think there will only be one other person besides me! I’ll let you know if that changes.
We plan to go over to a classroom so we can project my laptop to a larger screen.
Just call the church office at 727-531-7721 and it should be extension 122. I’ll let the receptionist know to expect your call.

Anything you need me to do to prepare?

😊 Chris
TO THE CLIENT Veronica Alvarado, Project Manager at Diocesan

Chris,

That should work out perfectly. Projecting your laptop will be perfect for the viewing side of things. For the audio, I can just be put on speakerphone.

Also, I just want to remind you to please have internet access, as we will definitely need this to view and edit the website. I know this may seem a little obvious, but I just like to clarify!

Other than that, I don't think there is anything else!

Veronica

Sounds like a plan! And yes, internet it usually pretty good over there.

I just added 2 more page updates to DropBox. I noticed there are 3 others in DB that maybe I forget to tell you about.

Thanks.
FROM THE CLIENT Chris Pelletier, Communications and IT Coordinator at Catherine of Siena
I forgot to ask:
So after our training next Tuesday, what’s next?! Is it ours live?! Or will it still work as a “demo” for a little while, or ??
FROM THE CLIENT Chris Pelletier, Communications and IT Coordinator at Catherine of Siena
I just added another page to the DB! A diagram of our Family Life Center. Put it wherever you think best.

😊
TO THE CLIENT Veronica Alvarado, Project Manager at Diocesan

Chris,

After the training, we like to make sure you have at least a week for familiarize yourself with the new site, ask questions and edit things as needed before officially launching.
The official launch date is up to you. Simply let us know when you would like the new site to go live and we can switch scosparish.org to redirect to your new website.

I will go though your DropBox and see what I can do!

Thank you,

Veronica

Whew! That’s good to know!
And thank you!

Hi Veronica,

Just touching base here. Looking forward to tomorrow! How long do you plan it will take?
TO THE CLIENT Veronica Alvarado, Project Manager at Diocesan

Chris,

The training typically takes about an hour and a half, where we will go over the basics of how to edit your website. Is 727-531-7721, extension 122 still the best number to reach you tomorrow?

I look forward to the training!

Veronica

FROM THE CLIENT Chris Pelletier, Communications and IT Coordinator at Catherine of Siena
Sounds great!
FROM THE CLIENT Chris Pelletier, Communications and IT Coordinator at Catherine of Siena
Just thought of a question. I know you can answer during tomorrow’s training, but people were asking now.
Re: the “fillable” forms. Will we be able to create those using Word Press? (Someone said we’re going to have to also buy and learn Adobe!!)

??
TO THE CLIENT Veronica Alvarado, Project Manager at Diocesan

Chris,

Oh goodness, no! We have the premium version of Gravity Forms installed on your website so that you can create online forms with ease! It's very user friendly and emails submissions, as well as keeping a copy of all submissions within your website's editing side.

No buying or learning Adobe necessary! :)

Veronica

FROM THE CLIENT Chris Pelletier, Communications and IT Coordinator at Catherine of Siena
Whew! This person was just so insistent that we’d need Adobe! And I was saying I don’t think so!

😊
