Website Content

Good afternoon Sandy,

I know you are probably about to run out of the office (if you haven't already) but I just wanted to contact you and let you know that I am Veronica and will be the content specialist for your new website.

Since your previous website was with Diocesan, we will be able to pull over all your content quite easily and can do this at any time. Is there a specific cut-off date you want to have? That way, you are not having to update things on both your new site and your old site.

Let me know and we can go from there!

You could pull starting Tuesday. Content is updated as much as it will be until we get close to Lent.

Haha, no problem!

Also, if you have photos of your staff, please send them my way as we have a new way of displaying staff in a visually appealing way. (Click here to see example.)  Obviously, the organization will be different, but this way you can see how it looks with photos (Clergy area) vs without photos (Worship/Parish Staff area)

I need to create 2 new pages for the current site, to also be migrated as you move content to the new site.

Just checking that my doing this doesn't muck up your migration process.

Please advise 😎

I actually had the chance to move your content over yesterday, at about 2:00 pm. Just in case, please let me know which two pages they were. Can't be too safe!

Also, for the future, if you make any changes, please simply shoot me a message and let me know which pages so I can update them on the new site.

Hello Veronica,

I made changes to the images in our slider banner. I'm not sure if this impacts your work, but if it does, now you know.

Any idea as to when the site will be finished?

Sandy
TO THE CLIENT Veronica Alvarado, Project Manager at Diocesan

Sandy,

Thanks for letting me know! It actually does not impact the slider, but thank you regardless.

As for the completion of your site, you should hear back from us within the next week or so to set up a training. Since you already know how to operate WordPress, it should be a quick refresher.
At the end of the training, we typically set a launch date no more than one week after the training. This gives you time to get familiar with the website and make any edits necessary, as well as giving us time to make any changes you would like.
Do you have a strict date that you would like the site live by? Obviously, we want to finish it as soon as possible, but I like to have a timeline in mind.

Talk to you soon,

Veronica Alvarado

My hope was by Easter, so that does not sound like it will be a problem.

I work 8 to 5, so how will the training be made available?

Sandy
TO THE CLIENT Veronica Alvarado, Project Manager at Diocesan

Sandy,

Oh yes, the end of March/Easter weekend is definitely doable.

For the training, I would call you over the phone and view your screen via TeamViewer.  Do you know if I will only be training you, or others as well?
It typically takes 1-2 hours, but should be shorter since you already know WordPress fairly well.

Am I correct in assuming that you do not work at the parish? If so, we can find  way to work with you. If necessary, we can do it after normal business hours or on a weekend. It would give me the opportunity to finally visit St. Casmir in person!

Simply let me know and we can work something out,

No, I don't work for the parish...I'm a dedicated volunteer. I work in public health as a communications manager.

I am the sole web and social media person, so it will just be me. I manage everything from my laptop on my couch.
TO THE CLIENT Veronica Alvarado, Project Manager at Diocesan
That's what I figured.
Good on you for helping out your parish!

So, as I mentioned, we can find a time to do the training at a time that works best for you. We can discuss it in more detail as we get closer to having the site completed.

Hello Sandy,

I did see your message about Ryan working on the transfer. Unfortunately, we cannot move forward with the launch until the transfer successfully goes through.

I do know that Ryan will be out of town Thursday and Friday, so if the transfer goes through on one of those days, Micheal can do it.

Other than that, have you seen anything else that needs to change?

Hi Veronica!

I hope you can help with this....

I've just discovered that the Join Us and Giving buttons on the website are directed incorrectly in that when clicking on either of them, you're flipped to the local links page. Can you make those corrections?

Also, I tried to set up the Google Analytics and copied/pasted the code into the pages, but I'm not sure I placed it correctly. Can you or someone else take a look and see if I did this right?

Thank you for your help!

Michael can get those links working, but for the Google Analytics, did you follow these instructions? Also, which pages did you paste the codes to?

Thank you,

Veronica Alvarado

Web Department, Diocesan
FROM THE CLIENT Sandy Enness, Social Media Coordinator at St. Casmir Staff
Excellent... thank you to Michael.

I did follow those instructions and I already had an account. I have no data coming in. Since there aren't a lot of pages in the site, I did put the code on every page. I placed it at the top of the page, but I'm wondering it should have gone on the bottom.

Sandy
TO THE CLIENT Veronica Alvarado, Project Manager at Diocesan

Sandy,

I checked the website and saw that there is now no Google Analytics account connected. I know you did have one there before, so I am wondering if maybe you de-authorized the plugin? If not, you can simply go back to stcas.org Google Analytics' General Settings and click "Authorize Plugin". Then click "Get Access Code". Once you save this access code, the plugin should automatically insert the tracking code to each page, as this is the plugin's function.

Also, as to what you were saying earlier, were you going to the Google Analytics website to view your analytics or trying to view it through your website? Personally, I do not know too much about the Google Analytics, but I do know that most clients view their analytics through the Google Analytics Dashboard.

Hopefully this helps. If it still does not show up, please let us know.

It still happens when I'm logged in.
TO THE CLIENT Veronica Alvarado, Project Manager at Diocesan
Hmmm... You may have to clear your cache or do a hard refresh on the page.

Once you have done both of these things, try logging in and following those steps above to get to the general settings (not by clicking on the link).

Sorry this is taking so long. I am going to see if anyone here has more information on getting the Google Analytics to work in the meantime.

Glad it seems to have worked out!

As for accessing/viewing your Google Analytics, you can now access them through Google's Dashboard:

The analytics will also be available on Wordpress' Dashboard, although you may have to scroll down. You can click and drag this  It should look like this:
Unfortunately, there's not much else I can do from our end, but the plugin will make sure that each page of your website is being tracked by Google Analytics. It may take 24 hours for true analytics information to begin coming through.

I hope this helps you out!

I've gone into the page to delete and re-insert the form but it's still not appearing on the page after republishing.

Can you help?

Sandy Enness
TO THE CLIENT Veronica Alvarado, Project Manager at Diocesan

Good morning Sandy,

The contact page is one requires approval, as we build this page exactly as the design is laid out, so it may be subject to a development support cost. Typically the cost is $70/hr, but since we are hosting the website, you will get the reduced cost of only $50/hr. Of course, the change may not even take a full hour, but I can get an estimate from Michael before we begin to do this. Where would you like the text and contact form to show up?

The other alternative is to add a second page that is titled "Contact Form" or something similar, then add it to the menu below Contact Us. It would display similarly to "Events" and "Calendar" in the menu.

Let me know what you think and we can move forward!

It needs to go on the Contact page. Please see what it might cost and let me know.

So, we are talking about making our Religious Education enrollment forms an online form, would we have to pay to have that form approved to be active or can i just create a new page under Rel Ed and insert the new form once I create it?
Sandy
TO THE CLIENT Veronica Alvarado, Project Manager at Diocesan

Sandy,

Michael gives an estimated time of an hour to an hour and a half, depending on the location, look and layout of the content you are wanting to add. He can give you a little bit more detail on the time estimate and can go over your desired layout/style of the addition, if you would like.

As for the Religious Education page that  you approved, this was simply an example of an "inner page" or "content page" where the content is entirely up to you. So for those pages, you can simply insert the form right onto the page, or create a separate page and link it on your RE page.
The contact page functions more like the homepage, where the layout is static and completely designed/built by Diocesan.

If you would prefer the contact page to be entirely editable, you may also go the route of editing the Contact Information page to be the "default template" or "Columns & Rows" (found under Page Attributes>Template while editing the page) and putting in your own content, as done with other pages. This will delete the information currently on the page and allow you to place any necessary information onto the page.

Let me know which route you would like to take.

I popped into the Forms Entries as see if any messages had been entered and saw that three messages were sent via the Contact Us. All three were directed to the parish office email address.

The office says they have never received the messages. I've asked them to double check and look in the junk/spam folder.

The email address we have linked to the form for the office is correct, as it is for the religious education office.

I've sent a test email to each this morning and am awaiting a reply to my personal email as I indicated on the form, and asked in the message I sent.

Is there anything you can look at your end to see if the messages are being received to the respective emails?
