Site Map

Good afternoon Daisy, Deacon Henry and Myron,

I have spoken to you briefly, but wanted to re-introduce myself as we will be working closely for the remainder of the project. My name is Veronica Alvarado and I am the content manager. As both a Catholic parishioner and a former parish administrative assistant, I am in charge of making sure that the website is easy for Daisy to update and easy for parishioners to navigate/find what they need.

Basecamp
Before I get into the site map, I wanted to introduce you to Basecamp. As we move forward with the new website, we use Basecamp for project communication and development. This keep us organized and gives you an easy way to access the communication between Diocesan and yourselves. Each email you receive will provide you with a link to Basecamp at the bottom of the email.

To access Basecamp, you will need the following pin: 5864

Site Map
The site map is an overview of what items will be in the menu and what items will be on the pages. I have started a site map that shows what items I suggest being on the top menu.

To begin, I have taken everything from your current navigation menu and found a place for it on the new site map. Of course, you have the option to move these items now in the sitemap OR once you have access to the website. I have chosen About, Community, Formation, Ministries, Give & Contact as top menu items so that parishioners are being invited into your parish and give them the feeling of being a part of a parish family.

The items with black dots are items that will drop down in the menu. The white dots are items that will be on the page as either content or buttons to a separate page. This is a great way to keep the menu from becoming too large.

Now that I have started the site map, feel free to move things around, make notes, or remove pages from the future website all together. Remember, the menu items can change later, but we need a preliminary site map before we can begin building the website.

If you have any questions or need to talk things through, please do not hesitate to get in contact with me.

FROM THE CLIENT Daisy Davidow, Bulletin/App/Website Admin at Saint Brigid Staff
Dear Veronica,
I will not be able to access Basecamp till later this week, but could you help me with one thing now? I am trying to add a new Mp3 recording to Joomla under guest speaker, most popular. I have 3 mp3 recordings of our Lenten Mission with Dr. Allen Hunt of Dynamic Catholic. I cannot find the folder where the current recordings are or the module with the selected listings so I can upload them to our website.

Can you tell me where it is since you are in the process of migrating the website?

Copied below is a picture of the current files.

TO THE CLIENT Veronica Alvarado, Project Manager at Diocesan

Good Morning Daisy,

Unfortunately, I am not too familiar with Joomla and do not think that this is covered in Diocesan's support. That being said, I may be able to log in, look at your plugins/modules and find an article that should guide you through uploading and linking audio files. So while I cannot personally walk you through the process, I will help you as best as I can.

In order for me to try to help you, could you please give me login information for your Joomla website?

Thank you,

Veronica Alvarado

TO THE CLIENT Veronica Alvarado, Project Manager at Diocesan

Good afternoon Saint Brigid Team,

I wanted to check and see how the website navigation map was going. I have attached our proposed website navigation map here:

Feel free to move items, add/delete items, or make your own notes for us. Remember, titles of menu items can be changed even after the website is completed, so do not feel that you would be "stuck" with these titles. However, we do need a preliminary site map before we can begin the actual building of the website.

If you have any questions about the site map, or this entire process, please let me know.

TO THE CLIENT Veronica Alvarado, Project Manager at Diocesan
Saint Brigid Team,

I just got off the phone with Myron and it seems that we will be keeping the menu structure as is for now. With the menu/site navigation approved, we can officially move forward with building your website.

As far as the timeline of the project, we are currently looking at:
  • ~5 weeks from the development site link with all content filled in
  • ~5 weeks from a training/looking at domain transfer process
  • ~7 weeks to launch, which gives you at least 2 weeks to get comfortable with your new website and allows time for us to make any necessary updates/changes before launching.
(This time also depends on the amount of time Saint Brigid takes to update items on the website before you are ready to launch)

Until then, let me know if you have any questions.
