Parish Web Approval

Good Morning,

I wanted to reach out with the proofs we have for the parish side, we want to make sure we hit the deadline for you! we can wait for the response from the principle for the school side. If we are ready we can move to begin development on the parish site!

Hi Sam,

These look great! One thing before I approve them, which I really just remembered over the weekend. In my initial meeting with Kevin, we talked about making the News section integrated into our pages and really unobtrusive. I didn’t include any section like this on my initial mockups, because I really didn’t know how it might work.

I recently came across this website<https://stpatsvan.com/>, and I think they have a solution that might work for our situation. If you scroll toward the bottom of this page<https://stpatsvan.com/content/what-are-sacraments>, you’ll see some buttons/links to more resources. Could we do something like that at the bottom of our standard interior pages, where we can link to our news events, as well as outside resources and maybe even articles that we write ourselves?

Let me know what you think!

That's is not a problem at all! Veronica showed me this site https://stmatthewcatholic.org/faith-formation/ where we used a similar section at the bottom of the page for news articles that could be used on your standard pages. Let me know if that works for you. I'll throw one or two pages together with the design at the bottom to show you what it would look like on your pages.

No problem! I will have that for you soon!

Hi Sam,

I think this looks good! I just want to make sure of a couple of things about the functionality of the section…

Firstly, I think we should re-title the section, because as I said I would like to also include links to other articles as on the page I initially showed you, and potentially “blog”-type articles that we write ourselves. So maybe the title should be “News and resources,” or maybe we should even drop the title altogether. Thoughts?

Can we put different news items and links on different pages? I’m thinking maybe this can be done via tags… For example all items tagged with “Consolation” would show up on our “Care & Consolation” and “Funeral planning” pages, all items tagged “Faith Formation” would just show up on the Faith Formation page, etc. Let me know if this is possible or not.

Lastly, would there be a “News” page, where all of these items and links (regardless of tags) would show up all together? If so, do you have any suggestions where we should place that page within the site?

Thank you so much!

On functionality! Yes you will be able to categorize the section based on what content by using tags, veronica told me that the one we used on the page I showed you uses that type of function.

We can re-title the section to better suit the content that will be inside of the section, News and Resources will work very well! We will have a News page for all the content to reside on yes! we can place it under the "About" section drop down if that works for you? I will also add a link under the section to "View All" that will take you directly to the News page.

Thanks!

Old one is perfectly fine! If you need me to send a new one I can do that though.

Thanks,

Sam
Melissa said YES and added:
Sam and I discussed a few changes, namely adding a "News & Resources" section at the bottom of standard interior pages. As long as the revisions we discussed get made, we should be good to go!

I think on the homepage he sent me before the Mass Times section was our blueish color. I prefer that over the lime green. Thanks!
