Development Site Link and Training Request

Good morning all,

We have reached the point in development at which we share a link to the development site with you.

Training Sessions
The first training session typically takes ~2 hours and is done remotely via a screen share program. We will send over the meeting link and phone number in a later email. Trainings are scheduled Monday through Friday 9am-2pm Eastern Time. Please let me know when you are available.

During the training sessions, we go over:
  • How to edit the homepage content
  • How to edit the footer
  • How to edit the menu
  • How to create/edit inner pages
  • How to create/edit posts
  • How to create/edit image galleries
  • How to create/edit online forms
Since this can be a lot, we break the training down into three parts:

Session 1: Editing the site basics
Video Tutorials: Gravity Forms and Envira Gallery
Session 2: Answering follow-up questions and scheduling launch

This is completely up to your learning pace and how much you feel comfortable covering at once.

Development Site Link
Something to keep in mind is that the site is not quite completed yet, with the largest thing being mobile responsiveness. That said, it is best to look at the development site on a desktop computer, rather than a laptop or smaller screen. Mobile development/responsiveness is something that the developer completes after the training so that he can update any changes along with the original development!

Other than that, if you see anything that alarms you (design or functionality), please let me know and we can address your concerns.

Please let us know what dates and times work best for the training or if you have any other questions,

Great!

Would it be possible to schedule training this Friday morning?
TO THE CLIENT Ryan Hoch, Web at Diocesan
I am unable to accommodate any trainings this Friday, but could schedule into next week. Is there a day next week that works for you? Would Tuesday the 28th at 9-11 am Eastern Time work for you? Alternatively I could meet most any time next week 9am - 2pm Eastern Time in a two hour block except Monday I am unavailable.

What about next Friday?
FROM THE CLIENT Dawn Leach, Benedict - Johns Creek, GA Staff
I share office space with multiple people and it is very noisy and chaotic. LOL But everyone is out on Fridays but me.
TO THE CLIENT Ryan Hoch, Web at Diocesan
Understandable. I often choose to work from home on training days for that very reason.

Would 9am - 11 am Eastern Time on July 1st work for you? I am available that entire day 9am-2pm Eastern Time if another two hour block works better.

Thank you,

I didn't even think about just working from home that day. I have VPN access now. I could do that Tuesday morning if that is still available. If not, next Friday July 1 will work for me as well.
TO THE CLIENT Ryan Hoch, Web at Diocesan
Per your request I have scheduled training Tuesday June 28th 9am - 11am Eastern Time. Below you will find the log in information for the recorded Zoom meeting:

Maggie, I’m working on the preschool page of the new website. I have two links in the document section that are linking back to the current site. How do I pull the PDFs into the new site?
TO THE CLIENT Maggie ONeill, Content Specialist at Diocesan
Hello Dawn,

If you upload those PDFs to your image library on the new site you'll be able to go in and edit the image button to pull the PDF from your image library rather than from the old site.

I believe we went over how to grab the URL of something from your media library in the training but if you run into any issues just let me know.

There are 2 pages with the title St. Vincent de Paul for some reason. One is the correct page and the other looks like part of the home page (the bottom half).
TO THE CLIENT Maggie ONeill, Content Specialist at Diocesan
Hi Dawn,

I see what you mean. I went in and deleted the broken page and set the correct St. Vincent DePaul page as the link in the menu. You should be all set now. If anything like that happens again please let us know so we can have a developer take a look at it.

Hello Dawn,

Thanks for passing that along! We've got it all set up for you on the calendar page so you're welcome to go in and delete the other calendar link you had set up.

Also, the video you took for the homepage looks amazing. Great job with that. Please let me know if you have any other questions!

Is there a way to make a plain thin simple rule line? I see three dots and a double line with a cross in the center, but no plain line or plain tiny dotted line.

Thanks, Maggie!

Can you look at my “Rosaries for Our Clergy” page? Somehow I have the first row of priests inside a secondary single column, and I cannot pull the four priest columns out of the big singular column. Could you help me?
TO THE CLIENT Maggie ONeill, Content Specialist at Diocesan
Good morning Dawn,

To your first question: unfortunately not. The spacer blocks or lines are set as part of the design of the site. I personally think that the one with the three dots is subtle enough that you could use it in the same way you would use a plain line though.

I went in and fixed the Rosaries for Our Clergy page for you. All I did was insert another column block with four columns and then copy-pasted each clergy profile into the new block. Sometimes that sort of thing happens with columns (they can be finicky) and the best thing to do is to just make a new block, copy your content over, and then delete the original block that wasn't working how you wanted it to. I do that all the time when I'm working on pages.

Let me know if you have any more questions!

Thanks, Maggie!

On our current site we have a translate button. Will this new one have that ability?
TO THE CLIENT Maggie ONeill, Content Specialist at Diocesan
Hello Dawn,

Happy Monday! We can absolutely add a Google translate button onto your site, but there will be a charge of $250 for integration and testing since that was not included in the initial quote we gave you. I'll send along an approval request in Basecamp momentarily. All we need to get started on that is your formal approval and a list of the languages you'd like to add.

Please let me know if you have any questions!

Maggie, does the Google translate button only translate the site into Spanish or does it include other languages as well? Does it need to be added at this point or can it be added at a later date?
TO THE CLIENT Maggie ONeill, Content Specialist at Diocesan
Good morning Dawn,

Thanks for the update! You can include languages other than Spanish if you like. Ideally we'll want to have this added before we launch your site, but if you need some time to think about it and discuss that's fine.

Is there an additional cost to have more than just a Spanish option? Would it be more than $250 to add the feature after our launch?
TO THE CLIENT Maggie ONeill, Content Specialist at Diocesan
Sorry for the confusion! It's $250 no matter how many languages you want or when we integrate the feature.

I'd be happy to go over this in more detail during our Q&A training session. We can also discuss any other content questions you have and get your launch scheduled. Typically this session lasts about 30 minutes. Would you be available this Friday at 9:30am EST?
