Content Strategy

Good afternoon Lori,

My name is Cody Armock and my role here in Diocesan's web department is as a content specialist. This means, that in addition to going over what areas of your current website are staying or going, I also help you find the most effective way to layout your website. I will be helping you, in this process, from now until the training before the launch of the site.

This not only helps us build you a website that is easier to edit and manage but also allows anyone visiting your website to accurately and consistently find the information for which they are looking.

Below is a link to a live, Google document of your Current Sitemap that you are able to edit directly. Please go through this Sitemap and make the appropriate edits to display what pages you'd like Diocesan to migrate, as well as removing the items that you do NOT want Diocesan to move.

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1-9GeqiH_I6eleGaQXLtE4Xdf76mysamYI1QEomqBOCc/edit?usp=sharing

Once you have completed editing the pages you'd like Diocesan to migrate, please let me know and we will begin making a suggested sitemap for the new site based off of your current sitemap. The suggested sitemap is created to optimize the flow and look of your site. We will then send you the suggested sitemap to edit and change as needed and then approve it.

Thank you for choosing Diocesan and we are very excited to work with you on creating a new website for you and the people at St. Anastasia.

Let me know if you have any questions,

Hello Lori,

I forgot to ask if you were using/have a Google Calendar for the website. I see that in the design of the Homepage, there is a section for the Calendar, but that on your current site there is no Calendar.

We highly recommend using Google Calendar because it works best for integration with the Website. Since you use Google for your emails, using a Google Calendar would integrate best with that as well.

If you already have a Google Calendar that you want to use for the Website, all we need is for it to be made public by following these instructions here and then sharing with us the Calendar ID, which can be found in the settings for that Calendar at the bottom of the same page where you made the calendar public, in the "Integrate Calendar" section. It will either be the email or it may be a string of characters and numbers followed by "@group.calendar.google.com". Just send us the Calendar ID for the Calendar you want for the Website and we will take care of the rest.

Thank you and let me know if you have any questions!

Hi Cody,

Sorry I missed your email! I'm still trying to catch up as the office was closed for most of last week. Here's the link to the Google Doc. I've made a few changes and comments.

As far as a Google Calendar, we are not currently using a one, but we may go to it now that we are no longer using PDS. That will something the Pastor will have to decide on.

Hello Lori,

Sitemap
I have gone through your edited current sitemap and have made a suggested sitemap based on the current one while also fitting it to the design of the website. The Proposed Sitemap can be edited as you did with the Current Sitemap. You can remove pages, add pages, change titles, etc.. You can also add comments to it if you have questions on certain parts. To do so, all you need is to highlight the text you want to comment on and click the small white circle with the '+' sign in it on the right edge of the page. By clicking on one of my comments, you can add a reply to it, if you wanted.

Calendar
If you do go with Google Calendar—which we recommend as it works the best with the website as well as with Google accounts, and since the design calls for some type of calendar—all we need from you is to make the Calendar public, which the steps are here and to send us the Calendar ID for it. You can find the Calendar ID on the same page where you make the Calendar Public under the "Integrate Calendar" section near the bottom of the page. The Calendar ID will be the first gray box under the "Integrate Calendar" title. Once you have that, just send that Calendar ID to us and we can integrate it on the website.

Let me know if you have any questions about the sitemap or the Calendar!

Thank you,
