Ambrose - Elkton, FL

Launch Date?

Good Afternoon Marybeth,

I wanted to follow up with you to see when you would like to launch the site for Ambrose. To reiterate, we prefer to launch the site in between Monday and Thursday, so we have another day in the office to answer questions you may have. Also, please give us a week's notice before you would like to launch the site, so we can prepare for it accordingly.

Thank you,

Cody,

Sorry for not getting back Alan or you sooner. I was in Michigan for my brother’s funeral and upon my return Father was going out of town for a couple of weeks. He asked if there were any issues with launching it prior to any updates I might have—I would think not but would like your thoughts/input.

I will know something more after this coming Sunday on possible launch date timing. I will be out of town the week of October 10th so we would need to do this the week prior or the week after – again, let me check on Sunday for steps going forward. I am so excited with the new look! Thanks so much!

Hello Marybeth,

You're Welcome. I can reach out Monday and see where we are at. In terms of issues with launching prior to updates, that shouldn't be much of an issue since you can, of course, update those things after launch too, but it is up to you.

Hi Cody,

I spoke with our IT support person, Brian. He also believes there should not be any issues with launching now—basically the same as you indicated. Would it be possible for me to give him my initial sign-on so that he can review the site; or some avenue for him to review it 😊? If this is not appropriate, I certainly understand, and we can move ahead with the launch. If you need a week’s notice, I believe that would mean the launch date would be between Monday, October 4 and Thursday, October 7 in line with your typical launch schedule. I have copied Brian on this email so that he is aware our communications.

Just a heads up, I probably will not be maintaining the website in the near future. I will let you know so that we can get the new individual a login. This must wait for Father to return in 2-3 weeks to finalize this change.

Thanks so much for all that you have done to work with us—this is so exciting. I will keep you posted.

Good Morning Marybeth,

Can you send me Brian's email? Basecamp does not do well with added people to the emails that are not added in Basecamp. We could launch next week Thursday if you wanted. I can also make Brian an account or you can give him your login if you want, either way is fine. You can also just send him the link and he can review it that way.

It looks like we already have the domain login credentials through Bluehost, so we can just log in to there and change the host records to launch the site. We will migrate the domain to us shortly after launch, so that hosting the website and the domain will be through us all in one place.

Let me know if next Thursday, Sept. 30th would be good to launch or which day of the week of the 4th would be best.

Thank you,

Thanks Cody,

Thursday, September 30 is good for me. That gives me a week before I leave to work my way through things! 😊

Unless Brian will need an account as our IT person, I do not think it is necessary to create one for him. Is Basecamp the source we would use for any IT issues? Again, techno dummy speaking—I do not want to create extra steps if it is not necessary. I am happy to just send him a link (just so he can see it). I can also share my login with him if necessary. Let me think about this.

In my reference to someone else updating the website, etc. in my place, it will not be Brian so we should perhaps leave things as they are right now and make any changes when appropriate per Father Zehler’s approval/input. The individual in mind has experience with maintaining websites and is very tech savvy—a better fit than I with my other responsibilities.

I am rambling—sorry about that.

Hello Marybeth,

Wonderful! I have the launch scheduled for then.

Once the site is launched, you will email any questions/issues to webdepartment@diocesan.com, not through Basecamp. I will let you decide how you want to do that and answer any questions that arise.

Once the new person arrives, just send me the first and last name and email of the person who will be taking over.

Thank you for letting me know and have a great email!

Greetings Cody,

First, let me express my sincerest gratitude for the time and effort you and your team put into our new website. Your entire team was professional and diligent in providing the service that Saint Ambrose requested. And I am especially grateful for your tireless patience in working with me.

The good news is that we have an experienced individual who is going to update our website, Deacon Dan Rindge. I have copied him on this email to open the communications between Deacon and Diocesan. You will be able to work directly with him to provide his sign-in information and answer any initial questions.

Once again, thank you so much!

PS- you would be proud of me-I finally was able to upload the October 10th bulletin. It took me a couple of hours for the process to sink in, but I finally did it! Woohoo! –Techno dummy signing off for now! 😊

Blessings, I remain….

Good Morning Marybeth,

That is great news!

Can you send me Deacon Dan's email in an email? Basecamp doesn't bring in any copied emails unless they are in the basecamp project already, but if you send it in an email to me then I can make his user account and send that out to him.

Thank you,

Good Morning Cody,

Our office manager asked me to inquire about who maintains/updates our email
addresses-she said that she thought it was Diocesan. Can you confirm whether
this is correct?

Our youth minister, Chris Fisk cannot access her email address
stamfam1@saintambrose-church.org <mailto:stamfam1@saintambrose-church.org>
and has had to use her personal address to send out church business.

Blessings, I remain..

Hello Marybeth,

The Emails look like they are still with Bluehost as they are there with the domain. So, it is not through us, it would be best to contact whoever has access to the email system through them or possibly contact Bluehost themselves.

Marybeth,
Your email setup is with Bluehost, as Cody mentioned, so you can login there and reset the password.   Diocesan actually does not host email - your emails can either continue to stay with Bluehost, in which case you'd continue to pay them for the service, or they could be migrated to a service such as G-Suite, which is Google's version of email hosting.

Google does offer an email service, G-Suite for non-profits - I can have Alan provide more information about that if you're interested in moving to that service.  The alternative is to continue using Bluehost for email accounts and you can leave your domain there if you'd like, or migrate that to our hosting service for the domain and leave your email with Bluehost - I have an item on my to-do list to migrate your domain, but it's probably best to figure out what you plan to do with your email accounts first.

Let me know if you have any questions, or would like to talk with Alan about moving to G-Suite for your emails.  I know that service is free for non-profits but there is a cost involved with moving the accounts - he'd be better able to tell you want all that entails.

Thank you,

Mary

Mary,

I am copying Brian McCully, IT Support for Saint Ambrose to discuss the content and next steps regarding this matter. Additionally, I have included our office manager, Terri Sowards. The initial thought was that the email hosting would move to Diocesan.

Based on your email, it appears as though this was a misunderstanding. Brian McCully is better equipped to discuss and understand the context of what the best option for us at this time is.

Brian’s email address is bmcully76@gmail.com <mailto:bmcully76@gmail.com> – Terri Sowards email address is choffice1@saintambrose-church.org <mailto:choffice1@saintambrose-church.org> . Thanks so much!

Thanks, Marybeth -
Yes, usually if someone needs email service, we'd suggest G-Suite as it's free for non-profits so it's perfect for churches.  There's some paperwork to do to get approved and some work involved setting it up and migrating over the email accounts so there is a fee involved on our end to do all of that, but once it's set up, it's free and you'd have unlimited accounts and storage, etc.  It's actually a wonderful thing that Google does, providing that for non-profits.

My main email account is webdepartment@diocesan.com and Brian is welcome to contact me there - and I can be reached by phone at 877-923-0777.
Thank you,
