Here are the recommended specifications that our marketing team and web developers have put together for us to share with you:

Codec

Video Ratio Size
  • 1280 x 720 px is sufficient for a website and more than enough on mobile devices (If you let us know what program you’re using we can help you find export settings)
  • 1920 x 1080 px (Desktop & Standard HD Dimensions)
Frame Rate
  • 24 fps is used in cinema and more natural to the eye. (recommended)
  • 30 fps (29.97) is standard quality for the web. 
Length
  • 10-15 seconds (recommended)
  • 30 seconds (maximum) 
Remember that most people are not there to watch the homepage video, they are there to get other content within the website. The video should only pull them in and give them a brief taste of who you are. It's more about the initial feeling than showing what's happening at the parish/school.

File Size
  • 10MB or smaller will load quicker
  • 20MB is maximum but will load slower, especially for mobile devices using data. (If choosing this size, Diocesan recommends displaying still image on smaller/mobile devices instead of video.)
To aid in creating a smaller size, when exporting, remove audio (don’t export audio with it).
